October 2021: Spatial Composition Through Sketches by ms Eiling Tay
Ms Eiling Tay has been in the industry since 2005 with
passion; she always expresses her work in sketches and never let her insight
slip through her fingers. We are honoured to have ms Eiling Tay with us in the
IAD event. She had shared with us her journey of idea-ism creation from
sketches, transforming the art of lines into spaces, and her solidity beliefs
which had driven her passion and the interior design industry.
It
is always an honour to have designers from various field to express strength
and philosophy into the industry to us students throughout out academic days.
In this fine October 2021, we have got ms Eiling Tay, creative director of
Youngblood Creation, the privilege to share with us her quality of knowledge
and philosophy in design and experiences with us.
During
the talk, she shared her some of her project experience and situation while
dealing with clients. She uses sketches in demonstrating the importance of
brainstorming and resolving issues through freehand execution on her electronic
device.
Ms Eiling Tay also showed us the design progress, brainstorming, from blank to concept, from brief to design sketches output. Other than that, she also shared some of her previous project to encourage all the student in sketching ideas, bubble diagram, zoning and space visualization, to practice become an imaginative designer and explore more in a design without limited by or relying too much on 3D software. Showing us the greatness of freehand practices on papers which could save design students and professional a lot of time throughout the design process.
Near
to the end of the talk, Ms Eiling Tay was generous in giving out 3 tickets to
us students to participate in MIID REKA Conference 2021 by posting our sketches
online through Instagram.
Thus,
congratulations to student Liew Kerou, Keeyan & Janice for wining a ticket
to the talk!
To
conclude, we had an awe-inspiring session with ms Eiling Tay. Throughout
the session with her sketches demonstration and project process, it was quite
an inspiring output which had inkjet us students that how line could create
wonderful language on blank paper. How ideas could be loudly express with just
basic scribble. Also, not to be shy and lets be proud with our own skillset be
it perfect or imperfect.
