First City University College's Faculty of Design & Built Environment proudly presents its annual graduation exhibition, Sequence September 2024, celebrating the creative achievements of its design students.
The event started with the MCs announcing this year’s theme, "Connect to Elevate," highlights the collaborative spirit of students and their ability to break boundaries through design. The exhibition features projects from students in the Master of Design Management, Bachelor of (Hons) Interior Architecture and Design, Bachelor of (Hons) Graphic Design, Bachelor of (Hons) Furniture and Product Design, as well as Diplomas in Interior Design and Graphic Design.
This was followed by Jiun Xue, the Chairperson for Sequence September 2024 committee who thanked all her coursemates and team members for support.
Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Saw Sor Heoh in her speech alter emphasized the significance of design in society, stating, “In a world where visuals are paramount, design plays a crucial role in communicating ideas and fostering understanding. It uniquely evokes emotions and promotes deeper connections. “The projects on display today demonstrate that design not only creates visually appealing objects but also serves as a powerful medium for communication, problem-solving, and influencing how we interact with the world.”
The Guest of Honour, Dato Soo Kai Chee, Treasurer of the Kuala Lumpur and Selangor Furniture Association (KSFA), emphasized the success of the collaboration with First City University College. He pointed out that the Association played a vital role by offering industry support and highlight on the the quality of the graduates.
The event continued with exhibition of the Sustainable Fashion Show, where students from the Bachelor (Hons) Fashion Marketing program showcased eco-friendly designs made from recycled and natural materials. The fashion show was the collaboration between the university and the World Wide Fund (WWF), reinforcing a strong commitment to sustainable practices in the design industry.
The September 2024 Sequence Exhibition, now in its 22nd edition, is supported by major sponsors including 1 Utama Shopping Centre, MAX WORLD, SQFT Space Design Management, Jupiter I Design Sdn Bhd, The Makeover Guys Sdn Bhd, SQUAREONE, and TAK Products & Services Sdn. Bhd.
