Dai Sou Kopitiam Design Competition


The winners of the Dai Sou Kopitiam Design Competition were on cloud nine when they received their prizes during the prize-giving ceremony held at the White Canvas Gallery, Faculty of Design & Built Environment on 1 March 2023.



Founder/Owner of Dai Sou Kopitiam Raishawn Chong was present to give away the prizes. Also present in the ceremony were First City University College Director, Tan Sri Dato’ (Dr) Teo Chiang Liang, Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Saw Sor Heoh, FDBE Dean Assistant Professor Chua Huwi Huwi and the faculty members.


The competition received 26 project submissions from students of the BA (Hons) Interior Architecture & Design (BIAD) programme. 11 projects were shortlisted as finalists before the winners were announced just before the prize-giving ceremony. The winning design will be adopted by Dai Sou Kopitiam in its coming expansion plan.

Dai Sou Kopitiam is a famous local and traditional cafe in Kuantan, Pahang. The competition is a collaborative project between FDBE and the Kopitiam after the students visited the Kopitiam and the site of its expansion plan in September 2022 as part of their study expedition.

Kimberly Oddie Grinsam (1st Runner-Up with RM1,500 cash prize)
Nur Adila Puteri (2nd Runner-Up with RM1,000 cash prize)
