Study Trip to Rix Exhibition 2024

On 1st November 2024, 39 students from the Diploma in Interior Design(DID) program visited the Rix Exhibition 2024 held in KLCC Convention Centre. Students are excited as they have the opportunity the explore different types of building materials that are commonly used in interior construction. The sessions began with the assembly of the students and lecturer in front of the entrance hall. The students visit their first materials which is the tiles supplier Jubin BMS. There is a brief product explanation provided by the supplier. Nevertheless, a scratch resistance demo of sintered stone materials takes place offering the students valuable insight into the innovation and usage of sintered stone in our daily lives.

This study trip provides the opportunity for students to get to know different types of materials and also suppliers who can supply them locally. Nevertheless, the student can see the latest technology and durability of each material during the exhibition. The students are also able to learn different sizes and specifications of existing material samples and are also able to touch them. It is a different experience and fun way of learning new materials compared to normal lectures and a normal visit to the material library at the university. The students also visited different types of suppliers such as Lumbarmart, Baguus Curtain & ATH, having the opportunity to explore different types of materials from tiles to solid timber and fabric. After the visit, the student also explored different types of temporary structures with interesting designs and did their joinery research.
